About the 69th Toronto Leaside Scout Group
The 69th Toronto Scout Group was chartered in 1923. For 103 years, we have had the good fortune to have the St. Cuthbert’s Anglican Church in Leaside act as our sponsor. They support us through good times and challenging ones. Many weeks, that is our meeting place.
What We Do at Scouts
We provide programming from Scouts Canada for youth aged 5-26. Scouts Canada is the country’s leading co-ed youth organization. There are over 50,000 youth participating across the country. Through a variety of fun experiences, camaraderie, outdoor adventures, and contributions to their community, scouting youth build resilience, create friendships, and acquire skills that set them up for life.
Scout groups across Canada, like the 69th Toronto Scout Group, are led by a dedicated team of over 12,000 volunteers. They collectively donate over two million hours of their time.
Scouts Canada is part of the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM), which has over 40 million members across 167 National Scout Organizations worldwide.
Our Scout Group Sections
The 69th Toronto Scout Group offers 4 different sections:
Beaver Scouts:
Youth aged 5 to 7 discover adventures such as camping, hiking, playing games, making new friends, and enjoying campfires. For the upcoming Scout year, starting in September 2026, we do not have Scouters to run our Beaver Colony. If you know anyone who might be interested, please have them follow the steps here to register as a Scouter.
If you are not able to help, perhaps you know someone who can. Scouters can be someone outside of the parents of our existing youth:
- Former Scouts/Scouters or Guides/Guiders who want to give back
- Teachers, educational assistants, and early childhood educators
- Parents or grandparents who enjoy mentoring kids
- Outdoor enthusiasts who like camping, hiking, canoeing, or nature
- Coaches, fitness instructors, and recreation leaders
- University or college students interested in leadership experience
- Retired adults looking for meaningful volunteer work
- First responders, healthcare workers, or military veterans
- Artists, musicians, makers, and STEM professionals who enjoy teaching skills
- People who value community service and youth development
Cub Scout Group:
Youth aged 8 to 10 embark on outdoor adventures such as hikes, weekend camps, and canoeing. As a Pack, Cubs are encouraged to try new and exciting activities including STEM projects and cultural experiences.
Scouts:
11- to 14-year-old youth delve into more leadership opportunities and develop self-confidence by planning adventures with their Troop and giving back to the community in meaningful ways.
Venturer Scouts:
15 to 17-year-olds develop life skills to climb the mountain of their goals and reach their personal summit, embarking on greater expeditions and acquiring real-world experience.
